The 20’s & 30’s (formerly Young Members or YM) group is here to maximize the AMC experience for 20 and 30-somethings (and adults of all ages who still think they’re 20 or 30-something). Activities and social events are organized and attended by people like you, geared for the “younger” crowd. Check out the events in New Hampshire and our Facebook group to see what’s going on.

Meet Our Volunteers:

Our social events are a great way to meet others interested in the outdoors. Our trips are a great way to experience that outdoors with a bunch of like-minded ?0-somethings. On our trips, the safety of the group is always paramount. All of our activities are led by trained volunteer Trip Leaders and may vary from a single day to multi-day events.

This group has been the source of fantastic friendships and life-changing experiences! Seriously!

How to get involved:

  • Come to one of our socials in Manchester, Concord, Portsmouth, Upper Valley, and Lakes Region (or suggest a new location!)
  • Join us for an upcoming hike, camping trip, ski, or paddle.

Kara has set up an email for group events. Stay in the loop with upcoming events and more! We promise we won’t bug you too much.

In addition to this website, invitations for YM events go out on Facebook and Yahoo. Pick the one that’s best for you!

  • Facebook Group The best way to stay in touch, see photos of recent trips, connect with other Young Members, see who’s attending events!
  • Yahoo Group

Just like you, we joined this group to meet new people and try new activities. Welcome! We’re glad you’re here! Be sure to check out or Facebook and Yahoo groups links and look for some upcoming socials or outdoor events geared to those in their 20s and 30s.

Do you have suggestions for trips or events? Questions about the group or our activities? Contact us!

Come, get involved!

20s & 30s New England Trail Challenge: Hike 1

Join us to complete the New England Trail (NET) Hike Challenge!

There're so many lists and patches you can get from hiking in New England, but we bet you haven't heard of this one; the challenge requires you to hike 50 or 100 miles of the New England Trail (either the same section or different sections) by December 31, 2024. Once you complete this requirement, you can submit your successful completion of the challenge photos on line through the NET website.

We are hosting this hike as the 1st of many to get to a total of 100 miles this summer, so if you are interested in joining the challenge, you can sign up (it's FREE) using the links below through NET and register for any of our hikes that say "New England Trail Challenge" throughout the year. You don't have to go through these big objectives alone!

Hike 1 will start with MA Section 17 in Northern Massachusetts. With 1700 feet of elevation gain and ~11 miles this point to point hike is a good way to start the challenge.

20s & 30s White Water Rafting: Dead River

We're bringing back our white water rafting weekend but this time we're taking on the Dead River! With 16 miles of continuous rapids, the Dead has the most consecutive white water in New England. Since we're going in early season the chance for rapids with 3-4+ ratings is likely, so get ready for a wild weekend. This trip filled within a few hours last year!

We'll be camping on the North Country Rivers property where there's a main lodge with a restaurant and bar, game room, river access and more. Lunch is included with the rafting trip cost on the Saturday of the trip. All other food is each participants responsibility.

We understand things happen and if you need to cancel you may do so up until 30 days before the trip start date less a $20 cancellation fee. After this date, you will only receive a refund if we are able to fill your spot.

20s & 30s 2-Day Pemi Loop

After our super successful Pemi Loop in 2023, we're bringing it back!

Along the way we'll be tagging 9 4000 footers: All 3 bonds, S.Twin, Garfield, Lafayette, Lincoln, Liberty, Lincoln (with options to tag Galehead, Guyot and Zealand) over the course of 34 miles and ~10K feet of elevation gain.

This time we're targeting 2 days of hiking and one night of stay in AMC's Galehead Hut. This means less gear and a faster pace. Spots are very limited, and a screening call will be required upon registration.

This is a group trip, and we will start, hike, and end as a group! Expected pace will be moderate-fast, and we will set the pace to that of the slowest hiker. This is getting posted extremely early in order to get best pricing options for this hut.
