The AMC NH Mountaineering Committee runs trips and clinics across New Hampshire and New England — offering social climbs, education, and community. All led by experienced and trusted volunteers.
The AMC NH Mountaineering Committee plans and leads rock and ice climbing trips, skills workshops, and clinics across New Hampshire and New England. We’re not a guiding service. We’re a group of climbers who want to share what we know and get more people outside.
First time on real rock? Working on your trad lead? Looking for a crew to get after Frankenstein this winter? We run trips across the experience spectrum, and the people leading them have been doing this a long time.
Not a member yet? Join AMC here — membership supports trails, huts, and conservation across the Northeast.
We’re actively growing our leader base to offer more climbing trips, top rope site management courses, sport leading, and other educational trainings. Our goal is to eventually offer the full range of climbing experiences, from someone’s first time tying in, to leading trad. If you’re an experienced climber interested in helping build something, we want to hear from you.
Our volunteer leaders run trips and clinics across all seasons. Here’s what you can expect throughout the year.
We run climbing trips and social climbs at crags across New Hampshire, includig Rumney, Pawtuckaway, Marlow, and more. Sport lead clinics are coming in 2026.
When conditions are right, we run top rope ice climbing trips in New Hampshire. Seasonal and limited — keep an eye on the schedule.
We host monthly social climbs at four locations across New Hampshire. A great way to meet new climbers of all skill levels and stay active regardless of the weather.
Focused single-day and multi-day workshops on specific climbing skills. These are intentionally small and hands-on — you’ll actually practice, not just watch. Great for filling specific gaps in your skillset.
In 2025, the AMC NH Mountaineering Committee launched Schist-mas — a climbing festival at Rumney Rocks. More than 150 climbers, campers, and friends showed up for the first one. It was loud, it was fun, and it proved Rumney could hold a party.
Schist-mas is coming back in 2026. Dates and registration details to come.
