Climbing Anchor Practice

If you would like to get some practice building anchors for top rope climbs, come on by to get some practice in. This is NOT a trip of instruction on how to build climbing anchors, but a time to practice with experienced eyes there to check your work. AMC anchor materials (rope, cords, slings, carabiners) will be used for our practice. Other equipment is available to borrow upon request.

The main goal of the trip is practicing anchor building skills, but if we've got all the practice that we want, we will do some climbing!

Please fill out the registration form on the link and the trip leader will get in touch with you to confirm your registration. Registration for the trip will close 2 days before the date of the trip.

Prerequisites:

-Completed a top rope leader clinic with the AMC NH Mountaineering committee or a similar AMC clinic/program offered by other chapters

-Have your own climbing harness and belay device

Rock Climb Social At NH Climbing & Fitness

Join the AMC-NH Mountaineering Committee for a Social Climb at NH Climbing & Fitness! This monthly event welcomes climbers of all skill levels and is a fantastic way to connect with fellow climbers in the area.

The gym offers a variety of climbing options, including lead climbing, top rope, auto-belay, and bouldering. If you plan to lead or top rope, a quick belay test may be required if you haven't already taken one. Please note that, due to gym guidelines, we won't be able to provide belay instruction at this event. All climbers are welcome to join us, but please note that without prior belay experience, bouldering and auto-belay may be the best options. If you're interested in learning belay skills, reach out to us-we'd be happy to share some helpful resources!

AMC is not charging for this event, and non-members of NH Climbing & Fitness can enjoy a discounted day pass for $18, including rentals.

Top Rope Leader Clinic (Part II)

If you are interested in becoming a trip leader with the AMC New Hampshire Mountaineering committee, come join us for a clinic on managing a top-rope rock-climbing trip. This will build on the first day of the clinic and cover additional skills and scenarios you may see at the crag.

This is primarily a clinic to practice technical skills for leading a trip, so while there may be some climbing involved to replicate scenarios encountered when leading a trip, there will not be much actual rock climbing. The clinic will run for approximately 8 hours with lunch and snack breaks.

Prerequisites:

-Attended AMC NH Mountaineering Committee's Top Rope Leader Clinic (Part I)

Please fill out the registration form on the link and the trip leader will get in touch with you to confirm your registration. Registration for the trip will close 1 week before the date of the trip.
